Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) shares gained 1.42% to $7.84 in the pre-market hour. The European Union on Dec. 4 said it has approved Microsoft Corp.’s MSFT +0.13% $7.3 billion plan to acquire Nokia Corp.’s mobile phone business. The European Commission, the body’s executive arm, said it has “concluded that the transaction would not raise any competition concerns,” noting that “there are only modest overlaps between the parties’ activities and the links between Microsoft’s mobile operating systems, mobile applications and enterprise mail server software with Nokia’s smart mobile devices are unlikely to lead to competitors being shut out from the market.”

Additionally, the company on Nov. 21 launched Nokia MixRadio with Play Me in 31 countries around the World. The company on Nov. 14 said it would introduce self-serve ads for small- andmedium-sized businesses in three countries outside the UnitedStates, marking one of its first moves to expand revenue as apublicly listed company. Businesses in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada will beable to buy “promoted” ads that can be shown to targeted Twitterusers beginning this week, the company said.

Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) shares climbed 1.66% to $22.01 in the pre-market hour. The company on Dec. 2 announced that the company has named Rajan Rajgopal, vice president of Quality. Rajgopal will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Micron’s quality systems including manufacturing, customer program management and product ramps. He brings more than 25 years of experience to Micron and most recently served as the vice president of Global Quality and Customer Enablement for GLOBALFOUNDRIES in Singapore.
