In total, approximately 1,000 catering points comprising 15 varying formats, from cafés and restaurants to snack bars and vending machines will be available. Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee made certain there was a balance between national and international culinary options. The daily selection at the dining rooms in the Olympic (Paralympic) Villages will amount to approximately 2,000 unique dishes for the athletes over the course of the Games.
Vegetarian, Kosher and Halal dishes, as well as gluten and lactose-free options will also be available. Spectators will have the choice of approximately 500 dishes. It is estimated that a total of 7,500 tons of food will be prepared and consumed during the Games.
A total of 1,000 catering outlets with a total area of more than 40,000 m2, as well as seating areas for 30,000 people will be set up at the Games. The average price for lunch for one person at the Olympic Park will amount to 15 dollars.
Special attention will be given to the athletes’ meals. The main objective is to meet the individual nutritional and cultural dietary needs of the athletes ensuring a healthy and nutritional menu, balancing the ratio of fat, protein and carbohydrates.
Overall, there will be 7,000 chefs, sous-chefs and cooks, waiters, bartenders and cashiers serving athletes, staff and spectators during the Games – many of whom have experience in world-class sporting events.
Our guests on Flavor Living Radio will include: Tatyana Telnikova, born in Russia and owner of Handlebar Restaurant in St. Louis Missouri. We can’t wait to hear her tell us about some of the Russian foods that the Olympians will get to experience in Sochi. Then stayed tuned as we talk with Hotel Manager of the “Tulip Inn Rosa Khutor Hotel” about “Amsterdam”, the hotel’s restaurant located in Sochi.
Now you too can touch what some cooks will never in their life have a chance to feel, what this grand hotel will be serving their guests. Not just any guests but guests that have come from all over the world to participate in this year’s winter Olympics.
A good hearty meal sets the senses straight, our bodies in motion and our minds to think clearly. Be sure to take notes so that you yourselves can prepare these dishes at home and then tell your friends you’re eating what our great Olympians ate. http://goo.gl/AmVh5w
