Sean St. John

Author’s Bio

Sean St. John serves as the Executive Vice President and Co-Head of Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities at National Bank Financial in Toronto, Canada. As a member of the bank’s executive management team, he is responsible for all aspects of the fixed income division, including sales and trading, interest rate derivatives, debt capital markets and infrastructure finance.

For twenty-five years, Sean has been an asset to the banking and financial industry, first working as a Junior Bond Trader at Burns and Fry, then transitioning to Richardson Greenshields, where he honed his skills as a Corporate Bond Trader before moving to National Bank Financial in 1996.

Sean began his tenure at National Bank Financial as Vice President of Fixed Income, but over the years his knowledge and expertise earned him valuable roles with the company, including several management and committee titles and co-head positions.

Sean has been instrumental in establishing National Bank as a major player in the Canadian market, with National Bank now ranking #1 in the industry in government and high yield finance.

A single father, Sean St. John has a passion for giving back his time and energy to both Toronto-based and national community organizations. He is a proud supporter of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and participated in the annual Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer 2018 Event at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. The event raised $2.7 million to support cutting-edge cancer research. Additionally, Sean chaired the 2018 Right to Play Heroes Gala honoring Louis Vachon (National Bank CEO) and raised a record-breaking $2.8 million for the organization. Other organizations that Sean supports include United Way and Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada.
