The Neo World Elite Mastercard offers impressive cash back rates, but comes with a steep annual fee and high income requirements. It’s best suited for tech-savvy Canadians who frequently shop with Neo partners and maintain a high balance in their Neo savings account.
Like its no-fee little sibling, the Neo Mastercard, the Neo World Elite® Mastercard is squarely targeted at cash back enthusiasts. With the introduction of three rewards plans, the card now has something to offer beyond the traditional grocery and gas spender — including a dedicated option for dining and shopping, and a flat-rate plan for those who want simplicity.
The Neo World Elite Mastercard caters to a distinct segment of Canadian consumers:
For those who thrive on optimizing rewards and don’t shy away from managing multiple accounts, this card could be a game-changer. However, be prepared: to unlock its full potential, you’ll need to fully immerse yourself in the Neo ecosystem.
The Neo World Elite® Mastercard does not currently provide a welcome bonus.
As of June 2026, the Neo World Elite Mastercard is no longer a single product — it now comes in three separate cards, each built around a distinct spending profile. Customers choose their plan at signup, before account opening. Neo claims the World Elite® is the best cash back card in Canada, and the numbers back that up — depending on which plan fits how you spend.
This plan is functionally the same as the original Neo World Elite Mastercard rewards structure, making it the familiar option for existing cardholders. For high-income Canadians who concentrate spending on everyday essentials, the Gas & Grocery plan remains one of the strongest no-comparable-competitor options in its tier: no other Canadian card offers 5% on groceries, 4% on recurring payments, and 3% on gas under a single structure with comprehensive travel insurance included. With Neo’s Premium service, grocery rates can climb as high as 7% and gas to 5% — impressive numbers for any annual fee tier.
This is a new option and a meaningful one. For cardholders whose spending skews toward dining out, takeout, and retail rather than groceries and gas, the Shop & Dine plan delivers industry-leading rates in those categories. Note that Amazon and wholesale purchases are not eligible for the shopping rate.
The Everywhere plan trades category-specific rates for simplicity. Every eligible purchase earns 2% (up to $4,000 monthly spend, then it goes down to 1%). For a $149 annual fee card, a clean 2% on everything is a competitive flat-rate offer — comparable to the Rogers Mastercard’s 2% everywhere rate, but without requiring Rogers, Fido, or Shaw services to qualify.
Bonus category spending caps: Spend caps apply to bonus categories and reset monthly. When the monthly cap is reached, spending in that category drops to the base rate (1%) for the remainder of the month. Check Neo’s product details for current cap amounts per category.
Things to keep in mind: These are separate cards, not a flexible rewards toggle. You select your plan when you apply, and switching plans isn’t something you can do freely after signup. If your spending profile changes significantly, you’d need to weigh whether your chosen plan still fits. That said, the tradeoff is clarity — you know exactly what you’re earning from day one.
All three plans include access to Neo’s network of 10,000+ partner cashback offers, with up to 15% cashback at partner locations across Canada through the Neo app. The World Elite tier also includes comprehensive travel insurance and Mastercard Travel Pass (DragonPass) benefits across all three plans.
