Complete online surveys

Brands turn to voluntary online surveys in order to gather marketing information. In return for the time and effort you put into online surveys, you can earn points or money for each one you complete, which are then redeemable for gift cards. These are a few websites where you can complete surveys for Amazon gift cards.

1. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the more popular platforms for earning gift cards and cash back. You can start earning Swagbuck points by watching videos, answering questions or surveys, referring friends, playing games online, and even shopping. The value of each action can vary from just a couple of points to 25, and getting referrals is one of the quickest ways to earn Swagbucks. Your points can then be redeemed for a PayPal cashout or gift cards from retailers like Amazon.

2. Tellwut

Tellwut is a very straightforward website where you can complete and write surveys to earn points. When you create an account, you’ll be able to access external surveys created by brands and companies. Actions as simple as creating an account will earn you at least some points, but the bulk of points come from answering external surveys (between 25-2,000 points each). Once you earn 6,000 points, you can redeem them for a $15 Amazon.ca gift card.

3. Prize Rebel

Signing up with Prize Rebel is quick and you’ll gain access to tons of surveys. Prize Rebel will present different offers in your account that include actions you can take to get points. These actions might be clicking on a banner to sign up for a member’s area of a website, watching a video, or completing a survey. The points you earn vary, with some surveys earning you 10 points and others up to 3,000. When you refer a friend and they sign up to use Prize Rebel, you’ll earn a percentage too.

4. Ipsos i-Say

As a popular market research company, Ipsos i-Say is a great place to complete marketing surveys and earn points to redeem for gift cards. The exact number of i-Say points you get for each survey depends on its length and other factors. Once you’ve earned enough rewards, you can choose a gift card to receive as your payout. 500 points translates to a $5 Amazon.ca gift card, and you can redeem your points for up to a $100 gift card or cash out via PayPal.

5. Pinecone Research

With a minimum $3 payout per survey, Pinecone Research is one of the most well-paying platforms available. There’s also an option of testing products for a slightly higher payout, and there are occasional sweepstakes where you can win cash prizes in a draw. Your rewards can be redeemed for gift cards from Amazon and other retailers, as well as a PayPal payout, cheques, or a prepaid virtual Visa. Pinecone Research is member exclusive so you’ll need an invite link to join.

Collect rewards when shopping online

Earning enough for a gift card through survey-taking involves a lot of time and dedication, so they’re not the best option for everyone. If you’re used to shopping online often, then take advantage by shopping with a platform that allows you to earn points on purchases you’d normally make.

6. Rakuten

Formerly known as Ebates, Rakuten has a long-standing reputation in the world of online cash back rewards. Rakuten is used as a portal for shopping at over 750 retailers, including Walmart, Indigo, Sephora, Home Depot, and more. The exact percentage of your cash back rewards depends on the retailer. You can even earn rewards with Rakuten when you shop on Amazon, and then when you have enough, cash out your rewards for an Amazon gift card. Win-win!

7. Receipt Hog

Earn rewards on purchases you make in stores with Receipt Hog. Download the Receipt Hog app to your Apple or Android device, and use your camera to scan and upload photos of your receipts from nearly any store. Receipt Hog earns money by selling the data it accumulates to market research companies. Each receipt earns a different number of coins, and eventually when you have enough, your coins can be traded for an Amazon gift card or a PayPal or prepaid Visa payout.

8. Great Canadian Rebates

Great Canadian Rebates has a ton of partner retailers and websites where you can earn cash back on purchases in rewards. The Bay, Walmart, and HelloFresh are just a few examples of the brands that offer rewards through Great Canadian Rebates. Some rewards come in the form of a percentage of your purchase or a set amount per transaction. With a monthly minimum account balance of $10, you can earn an Amazon gift card or choose a different one.

9. Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is another app that earns you rewards whenever you scan and upload a receipt. You can scan a receipt for any store or even upload an e-receipt. You can also earn extra rewards for purchasing products from Fetch’s partner brands. Once you have enough points, you can cash them out for an Amazon gift card or another gift card of your choice.

10. Shopper Army

Shopper Army combines multiple ways of earning rewards on purchases, trials, and surveys. For starters, you can get free or discounted full-sized samples from brands you recognize and share your feedback for points. You can also shop with retailers like Shoppers Drug Mart, Staples, Walmart, and more to earn a percentage in cash back. Once you’ve earned at least $5, you can cash out through PayPal, donate your funds to the Canadian Cancer Society, or receive the amount on an Amazon gift card.

Redeem credit card rewards for points

If you have the right plastic in your wallet, you can easily earn points through loyalty rewards programs that can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards. Just be aware that redeeming credit card points for Amazon gift cards might have a lower value than redeeming them for other products or rewards, so take that into consideration before you cash out.

11. Amazon.ca rewards Mastercard

It goes without saying that one of the best ways to save money at Amazon is to use its own credit card. You’ll get 5% back at Amazon.ca, Whole Foods stores, grocery stores, and at restaurants for the first six months you have the card. Afterwards, you’ll earn 1.5% back on Amazon.ca and at Whole Foods (or 2.5% if you’re a prime member). Your rewards translate to points, and every 2,000 points earns you a $20 Amazon gift card.

12. MBNA rewards points

MBNA has a great rewards program that’s available via points earned by a few different MBNA credit cards. There are a lot of ways to redeem your points, such as on travel rewards, merchandise, gift cards, or for a statement credit. The amount of points you earn depends on the card you sign up for, but this is a great way to earn gift cards without much extra effort.

13. Scene+

If you have a Scotia bank account or one of the Scotiabank credit cards that collects Scene+ points, you’re able to redeem your points for items like merchandise, air travel, or gift cards.

14. Amex Membership Rewards

Amex gives you a lot of flexibility with how you can use your Membership Rewards® points. Your points can be transferred to other customer loyalty programs, cashed in for merchandise and travel, redeemed for a statement credit, or traded for gift cards. For Amazon purchases, it works a little differently. Instead of getting a gift card for your points, you use the Amazon Shop with Points program to use as few or as many Membership Rewards points as you’d like directly on your purchase. For reference, 1,000 points gives you on average $7 off.

15. BMO Rewards

You may have racked up points with the BMO Rewards program if you’re using one of BMO’s credit cards. Points can be redeemed on airfare, hotels, merchandise, or on gift cards from about 50 different retailers. You can expect to trade in 20,300 points for a $100 Amazon gift card, which makes this one of the lowest value of points traded for a gift card.

To wrap up

The best way to earn free Amazon gift cards is to use a combination of strategies. Complete some surveys, upload your receipts to cash back sites, use rewards websites when shopping online, and use credit cards that are good for Amazon purchases. It may seem like each avenue only offers a small reward, but when taken together, you can end up earning hundreds of dollars in gift cards every year.
