fishbat Touts the Use of Twitter for Brand Awarenessadmin
In reponse to an article published by Mashable, fishbat, an award winning online marketing firm, discusses why businesses should be using Twitter for brand awareness
According to an article published by Mashable titled “Successful Brands Don’t Care About Sales on Twitter,” most brands have been using twitter for years. Though the social network has its own advertising platform, a new survey conducted by Social Media Marketing University found that most brands don’t partake in Twitter ads. The survey, which compiled data from over 1,000 marketing professionals in the U.S., found that most businesses use Twitter for brand awareness, not sales. The article says that nearly 80 percent of businesses use Twitter to boost brand awareness efforts, 58 percent use it to drive traffic and 55 percent use it to engage customers.
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at fishbat, an award winning online marketing firm, says brands should be more focused on engagement, customer service and building brand awareness on Twitter or other social channels. “Social media is not all about driving sales,” he says. “Instead, brands should be using it to boost their customer retention and build loyalty within their target market. Brands that take the time to respond to customer concerns or join conversations often have a higher chance of converting those conversations into sales.”
Maas also says Twitter is a great tool to use to get involved in conversations generated around a specific topic or event. “Use hashtags as a way to promote events,” he explains. “If your business is not using Twitter as a means to increase positive brand image, it could be detrimental to your overall performance.”
