How to get a TD credit card
There are a few different ways to get a TD credit card, but the easiest method is as follows:
- Browse the list of best TD credit cards and find a card you’re interested in.
- Click apply now.
- Log in to TD if you’re an existing client or start the application as a new customer.
- Enter your personal information.
- If you don’t get instant approval, call TD at 1-800-983-8472 and quote your application reference number.
- Provide additional details if required.
- Wait for your card to arrive.
- Activate your card .
Applying online is typically the easiest way to get a TD credit card, but you can also apply in person at a branch or via phone if you’re someone who prefers speaking to someone directly.
How TD credit cards work
You can use your TD credit cards anywhere that accept Visa, the only card type TD issues.
Interest is charged on any amount you charge per month that isn’t repaid by the due date. How much interest you’ll pay depends on the card you have and the type of transaction. Typically, interest rates are 19.99% but can be higher for premium cards and lower for no-frills cards.
In order to reap the benefits of the TD rewards and benefits card, you need to meet the requirements of use, which can include minimum purchase amounts and/or maximum benefit amounts.
Depending on your unique needs and financial situation, you may qualify for some cards and not others. To know which card is best for you and which you can trust you will qualify for, review each card that is available to determine your best chance to get the best card with the best benefit.
TD credit cards rewards programs
TD credit cards offer three types of rewards programs: cash back, TD Rewards, and Aeroplan. Cash back is straightforward to understand, but the two different travel programs can affect your benefits and the value of your points. When picking a credit card, the rewards program is often a major consideration, so you’ll want to know how the TD credit cards rewards programs work.
Some of the best TD credit cards offer the perk of generating TD rewards, worth between $0.0025-$0.005 each, depending on how cardholders opt to redeem them. Cardholders get the best overall value out of their TD points by redeeming them for travel through Expedia, but TD also allows them to be redeemed for a range of merchandise, a statement credit, or to pay off tuition or a student loan.
TD cash back
You’ll earn cash back rewards on all eligible purchases if you have a TD cash back credit card. These rewards can be used to pay down your account balance at any time if you’ve accumulated at least $25 in cash back. Alternatively, you can have the cash back paid out in January of each year, with no minimum balance required. Both options can be done through TDRewards.com.
Expedia for TD
To maximize the value of your TD Rewards points on travel, you need to book things through Expedia for TD. To access Expedia for TD, log into TDRewards.com and click the Expedia icon. Once on the Expedia website, you can search for all types of travel. Once you're ready to book your travel, you can select how many points you want to redeem. There is a minimum redemption requirement of 200 TD Rewards points ($1 in travel).
Aeroplan
TD is an official partner of Aeroplan. If you have a TD Aeroplan credit card, your accumulated points will be transferred to your Aeroplan account every month when your statement is posted. Once the points are in your Aeroplan account, you can book any type of travel reward available at Aeroplan.com. For more info on Aeroplan, read our Aeroplan Points Guide.
